Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Get Counter-Strike-Style Collateral Mode

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Get Counter-Strike-Style Collateral Mode

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature a Collateral mode with an economy and Counter-Strike-style rules. The game will be released on Switch 2 as early as October 23.

New tactical mode in the spirit of Counter-Strike

The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature an all-new competitive mode for the series called Collateral. The new addition is inspired by the mechanics of Counter-Strike and Valorant, significantly reimagining the classic "Search and Destroy" format.

The Collateral mode will feature its own in-game economy: custom loadouts are disabled, and all fighters start the match with the same amount of funds and a pistol. Teams take turns attacking and defending two bomb plant sites, earning currency each round to purchase weapons, armor, and equipment.

Collateral Gameplay Features

The developers removed familiar casual mechanics to create an uncompromising tactical shooter:

  • Upon death, weapons and equipment are lost, but accumulated money remains.
  • Automatic health regeneration and respawning during the round are disabled.
  • Killstreaks are unavailable, with the exception of a reconnaissance UAV, which is purchased as a team option.
  • Perks and body armor are purchased separately using earned money.

The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for October 23 for Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
