Behind the Scenes of Creating the Chilling Soundtrack
Broken Mirror Games studio, the horror division of the renowned Polish company Bloober Team, has released a video interview about the creation of the musical score for its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, ONYX: The Dark Grip. The atmospheric soundtrack was composed by the legendary Polish composer Jan Borysewicz.
In the video titled «The Music of ONYX: The Dark Grip – Working with an Icon», Bloober Team head Piotr Babieno and the composer share details of their collaboration. The tracks were recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague®), achieving a unique, tense sound.
«I didn't approach this game as an ordinary horror title. My goal was to create a sense of anxiety through the music, but at the same time embed glimmers of hope within it,» noted Jan Borysewicz.
Unique Nintendo Switch 2 Features
The game ONYX: The Dark Grip is being crafted specifically for the handheld mode of the next-generation console. The developers view the Nintendo Switch 2 as a physical window into another world:
- Touchscreen: direct interaction with in-game objects using touch.
- Gyroscope: tilting the console to unleash special powers.
- Microphone: the ability to blow into the device's microphone to warm the protagonist (The Vessel), saving them from the merciless cold.
The release of the exclusive horror game ONYX: The Dark Grip on Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for 2027.
