Bandai Namco has unveiled the multiplayer component for the upcoming Ace Combat 8 called Ace Combat Online. Players can look forward to a wide range of modes — from classic cooperative missions to large-scale battles and a dedicated social space.
Variety of Online Modes: PvE, PvP, and PvPvE
The developers have prepared several activity options for pilots:
- Co-Op Assault (PvE): Two teams of four pilots compete for the maximum number of points by destroying AI-controlled enemies and completing shared objectives.
- Co-Op Warfare (PvPvE): Two teams of 4 players fight against each other supported by allied bot ground, air, and naval forces. Destroying opponents increases the threat level, earning more points.
- Emergency Missions: Timed events that include 8-player raids against legendary bosses from previous series entries (Emergency Sorties) and clashes against elite AI-controlled squadrons (Scramble).
- Classic PvP: Timed 4v4 matches and 8-player free-for-all battles with aircraft balance restrictions.
Airbase Hub and Seasonal Passes
A significant new feature is the interactive military base — a social space for pilots. Between sorties, players can interact using avatars, listen to series soundtracks via a jukebox, and play retro Bandai Namco games (including Pac-Man) on arcade cabinets.
Progression in Ace Combat Online unlocks new aircraft, parts, special weapons, and cosmetic items. The game will also feature the Ace Pass battle pass (free and premium versions) with two-month seasons, with aircraft from passes remaining available for purchase even after a season ends.
