Tiny details that require years of work
In a recent interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book game director Masahiro Yamamoto and producer Hisashi Nogami shared detailed insights into the project's creation process.
According to the plot, a talking book named Mr. E falls onto Yoshi's Island, having lost the memories of all the whimsical inhabitants of its pages. Helping the book recover its memory, players journey through colorful worlds filled with surprises.
Creating one chapter dragged on for 3 years
The developers shared that working out each individual creature took at least a month on average. However, the true record-holder was the sixth chapter, dedicated to the Bewilder Bird and its environment:
- Masahiro Yamamoto: “Creating the Bewilder Bird took about three years. I felt the game needed to be fleshed out even more, and as new creatures appeared, the amount of required work grew.”
- Hisashi Nogami: “I contributed to this chapter little by little while working on other projects in parallel.”
Such dedication to detail proves how meticulously the team approaches every single page of Yoshi's new adventure.
